Evelyn Pearl Smith

April 10, 1953 — September 27, 2021

Evelyn Pearl Smith of Lindsay was born on April 10, 1953 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Lonnie Lee and Clella Loita (Haury) Smith. She was raised by her grandma Pearl Smith until her passing, at which time she joined the family of Vernon and Margie Bierig. She passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021 in her home at the age of 68 years.

Evelyn grew up in Okeene, Ok and was a member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribe. She was a graduate of Okeene High School in 1971, where she was part of the cheer team and enjoyed competing in beauty pageants. In College, she was a proud member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. After college, she moved to Lindsay to begin a career in the oil and gas industry. She continued and enjoyed her work for over 35 years, and lived in Lindsay for over 40 years.

Evelyn was a woman of God. She believed that her unwavering faith in the Lord is where she got her strength. She loved the world that God created; nature and the outdoors, early morning sunrises and late night skies always called to her. Evelyn loved to travel, read and learn as much as she could. She was an avid philanthropist. Anywhere she could help, she did. She was proud to serve as the president of the Desk & Derrick Club of Oklahoma City, on the Constitution committee for the tribe, and volunteer at the First American Family Museum, in Bible study groups and as an educational field trip guide. Her friends and church family meant the world to her.

She was a proud mother and grandmother and had a zest for life. Evelyn’s memories will be treasured by her children, Katherine Pearl Hillin and Steve Stone of Oklahoma City, OK, Sterling and Jessica Hillin of Montgomery, TX, Elizabeth and Anika Hillin of Chico, CA, and Step-Daughter Dana and Bryan Mitchell of Jones, OK. And by her grandchildren, Thaddeus Jordan Lane, Alexis Rae Green, Eva Pearl Stone, Lance Raegen Cooper, Gracie Marie Cooper, Wyatt Owen Hillin, and Weston Lee Hillin.

By her brothers, Barnum & Lisa Bierig of Longdale, OK and Chris & Lori Haley of Watonga, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Margie Bierig, Clella Haury, Lonnie Lee Smith, Sr. & brothers, Bailey Dean Bierig and Lonnie Lee Smith, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, October 4, 2021 at the First Baptist Church, Lindsay with Brother Monty Baggett officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Okeene, OK under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
