William Enoch Slay

William Enoch Slay passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, in Jones, Oklahoma at the age of 82. He was born on August 2, 1944, in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Walter and Bernice (Conn) Slay.

William lived a life marked by steady work, service, and the simple joys that meant the most to him. He was a 1962 graduate of Lindsay High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1965. After his military service, he worked as an electronics technician for Honeywell and from 1981 to 1994 he was employed with Wedge Wireline.

Beyond his work, William was known for the things he loved most in everyday life. He was a master shade tree mechanic and especially enjoyed teaching his grandson Shane how to work on cars, sharing both knowledge and time together in a way that will be long remembered. He also found comfort and peace outdoors, enjoying his walks in the pasture and simply being outside. Time with his grandchildren brought him special happiness.

William was a member of Erin Springs Baptist Church and served as the church bus driver for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Slay; his daughter, Shana Frizzell and Jackie of Lindsay, Oklahoma; his brothers, Walter Junior Slay and Venita of Woodward, Oklahoma and Freddie Slay of Lindsay, Oklahoma; his sister, Doris Auld of Duncan, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Shane Frizzell of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and Hailey Frizzell of Lindsay, Oklahoma. He will be remembered with love by his family and by those who knew him through the many quiet, meaningful moments he shared with them.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bernice Slay and sister, Myrtle (Myrtie) Beasley.

He leaves behind the memory of a man who valued family, hard work, and the peace found in the outdoors. His presence will be deeply missed and warmly remembered.
