William Paris Mitchell

William Paris Mitchell was born April 23, 1946. He passed away on September 8, 2026, in Lindsay, Oklahoma.

William met the love of his life, Linda Taylor, and they were married on May 1, 1969. To this union came their son, Patrick Shane Mitchell and daughter, Cynthia “Cyndi” Jean Mitchell.

William served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 1964 to 1968 and fought in the Vietnam War where he received two Purple Hearts. His military service spoke to his courage and strength, qualities that remained with him throughout his life. After his time in the Marines, he worked as a truck driver in the oil industry until he could no longer work due to health reasons.

Beyond his work, William found joy in the simple and meaningful pleasures of life. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time at garage sales, taking vacations to Colorado and was a HAM radio operator for many years.

William is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Mitchell; his son, Patrick Shane Mitchell and wife Kimberly of Lindsay, Oklahoma; his daughter, Cyndi Mitchell of Lindsay, Oklahoma; and his brother, Robert Lee McVay and wife Kaye of Blanchard, Oklahoma. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Meghan Mitchell and Cody of Lindsay, Oklahoma; Siarrah Mitchell of Blanchard, Oklahoma; Arianna Mitchell of Lindsay, Oklahoma; Patrick Dalen Mitchell and wife Allison of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Taylor McGuire and husband Jake of Lindsay, Oklahoma; and Tylar Mitchell of Lindsay, Oklahoma; 14 great-grandchildren: Codan Cordell, Cole Cordell and Case “Bucky” Cordell; Haizlee Mitchell, Tommy Cooper, Charleigh Burgess, Kambri Cooper; Lily Mitchell; Shealynn Knowles, Collin Knowles and Emma Knowles; and Theodore “Teddy” McGuire, Banks McGuire and Shepherd McGuire; and many nieces and nephews. Each of whom was an important part of his life and brought him great pride and joy.

William was preceded in death by his father, Billy Buster Mitchell; his mother, Bernice Helen (Henry) Mitchell; his brother, Harry Lynn McVay; and his sister, Billie Jo Hall.

William leaves behind a legacy of bravery, devotion, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
