Wanda Joy Riley

October 8, 1934 — August 10, 2018

Wanda Joy Riley of Lindsay was born on October 8, 1934 near Lindsay, Oklahoma to George Aubry Covel and Lena Mae (Tanner) Covel and she passed from this life on Friday, August 10, 2018 in Oklahoma City at the age of 83 years.

Joy resided in See Chapel, Duncan, and Beaver, before moving to Lindsay in 1997. She married William Riley on January 22, 1951 at the Grady County Courthouse in Chickasha. She loved her family and was so proud of them. She always took real good care of them and had her children dressed immaculately. Joy could cook like no other and her pies were the best and she made sure no one ever went hungry. She never missed a school event or class party and followed her grandchildren to all of their activities. She was loved and respected by her family, friends, and acquaintances and she was the glue of family, but could give you the what for when you needed it. Joy always welcomed anyone to the family. She was a member of the Erin Springs Baptist Church and loved singing in church and going with her family to Falls Creek. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Her survivors include her husband of 67 years, William of the home in Lindsay.
Daughters: Patricia Ann Pope and husband Roy of Weatherford; and Susan Kay Coldwater and husband Dale of Erin Springs.
A son, Dale Russell Riley of Lindsay.
Grandchildren: Erin Renae Parks, Blake Russell Riley, Tara Lynn Pope, Clay Adam Pope, Kylie Layne Tate, and Caleb Wyatt Coldwater.
Great grandchildren: Elizabeth Parks, Jack Parks, Jacob Riley, Reese Riley, Kelli Reeder, Kaden Bilbrey, Peyton Bilbrey, Stevie Jo Bilbrey, William Pope, Alexander Pope, Justin Tate, Tiffany Tate, Jaydin Tate, Caitlin Tate, Levi Tate, and Riley Coldwater.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lena Mae Covel; sister, Wilma Thompson; and brothers, Oniel Covel and Domer Covel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the Erin Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Caleb Coldwater officiating. Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay, Oklahoma under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, Oklahoma.
