Virginia Banks Chandler Cruzan

November 20, 1939 — December 10, 2020

Virginia Banks Chandler Cruzan of Tuttle, Oklahoma was born on November 20, 1939 in Sulphur, Oklahoma to Orville Lee Banks and Willie Elizabeth (Hill) Banks. She passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the age of 81 years.

Virginia moved with her family at age 4 to Lindsay, Oklahoma. She married Leon Chandler on January 14, 1958 at the young age of 16. She had four wonderful children with Leon. She later married Boyce Junior Cruzan on August 5, 1995. At the age of 38, Virginia went back to school to receive her GED High School Diploma. She later went on to become a “Medic” on an ambulance where she worked for 13 years. She worked at Lindsay Municipal Hospital for over 18 years as a Ward Clerk and an EKG Technician. She also taught CPR and medical technology at the Wayne Vocational Technology School. She loved working in the medical field and taking care of patients. Virginia always taught her students that “You are never too old to learn”. She always hoped that her story would inspire them to know their dreams could come true.

Survivors include her sons: Randy Chandler and wife Shelly of Lindsay, Ronnie Chandler and wife Betty Ann of Lindsay, and Robert Chandler and wife Tammy of Lindsay.
Daughter, Karen Drees and husband Mark of Medford.
Step-children: Darren Cruzan of Tuttle, Carmen Bento and husband Freddie of Marion, Indiana.
Grandchildren: Jarred Chandler and wife Callie Pigg, Chelsea Beck and husband Daniel, Trent Chandler, Mark Drees and wife Megan, Jennifer Byfuglien and husband Bobby John, Amanda Ramsey, Vanessa Chandler, and Tanya Chandler.
Step-grandchildren: Ruel Cruzan and Timothy Bento.
Great grandchildren: Brylee Moore, Heston Chandler, Bailey Beck, Mason Drees, Maddie Drees, Max Drees, Kennedy “KK” Byfuglien, Benson Byfuglien, Oakley Byfuglien, Dusty Ramsey, and Ary Ramsey.
Numerous nieces and nephews who loved her greatly.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, J. C. Banks, Otho Banks, and Billy Ray Banks; sisters, Inez Newton, Geneva Gordon, and Oleta Hoover; granddaughter, Vanessa Chandler; and husband Boyce Junior Cruzan.

In lieu of flowers the family requested that donations be made to the Lindsay EMS, PO Box 708, Lindsay, OK 73052.

Masks and social distancing will be in place at the cemetery for the services.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay, OK with Bro. Dennis Yates officiating. Burial will be under the direction of John W.
