Victor Paul Mays

January 16, 1940 — March 22, 2021

Victor Paul Mays of Norman passed away Monday, March 22nd 2021, in Norman with family by his side. He was 81 years of age. Victor was born on Thursday, January 16th, 1940 in Pauls Valley to William Paul and Joy (Corby) Mays of Pauls Valley.

While growing up, Victor attended Maysville Public School. He graduated with the class of 1958. After high school, Victor went on to further his education in Stillwater at Oklahoma State University. He graduated in 1962 with a degree in Agriculture. After returning to Maysville from Stillwater, Victor couldn't wait to purchase his first John Deere Tractor and begin farming. In 1971 Victor joined the Golden Acres Seed Company, while continuing to farm. He enjoyed this for several years before changing careers. In 1978 Victor started a new journey at Ace Hardware in Norman, OK. He enjoyed working with the public and helping others. He loved it there and stayed until he retired. In 2000 Victor joined Church on the Rock in Oklahoma City. This was truly his Happy Place and he served in every way he possibly could. He especially enjoyed the Rock Groups, Food Ministry, and the Nursing Home Ministry. Victor's main passion in life was to read and share the Word of God. He loved listening to the Spirit and was obedient by following up with a letter or phone call which would be full of scripture regarding something you were struggling with that no one knew about. This was his love language. Victor loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was constantly talking about how proud he was of all of them.
He will be missed by his family and many friends!

He is survived by three children: Shawn Mays of Pauls Valley, Jason Mays of Lindsay and Julie & Cody Tutwiler of Oklahoma City. Four grandchildren: Niki & Cody Crull of Elmore City, Ashlan Mays of Norman, Abbie Mays of Blanchard and Allyson Mays of Blanchard. Two great-grandsons: Casen and Cooper Crull of Elmore City.
One sister, Paula Joy Mays of California.
