Troy Leslie Adams

Troy Leslie Adams of Lindsay was born on April 30, 1927 in Maysville to William Riley Adams and Velma Pauline (Barber) Adams. He passed away on December 14, 2017 in his home at the age of 90 years.Troy was a lifetime resident of this area, graduating from Hughes High School in 1946. He married Vera Mae Williams on April 4, 1947 at the preacher’s home in Wallville. He worked as a self-employed hot oil operator in the oilfield and raised cattle. Troy loved his family and spending time with them. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting in Colorado, metal detecting, playing his harmonica, making chocolate peanut clusters, and going to Lindsay Gas-N-Go to visit with his old friends. He was a great story teller with a great sense of humor and was honored to be the official judge of the National Wallville First Futurity Turtle Race. Troy was a member of Twin Territories Metal Detecting Club and a charter member of DPR. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.His survivors include his wife of 70 years, Vera Mae Adams.A daughter, Beverly Mabry and husband Dean of Shawnee.Brother, Don Adams of Maysville.Sisters, Wilma Gossett of Fort Worth, Texas and Sandra Martin of Maysville.Grandchildren: Travis Mabry, Stacy Calvert, and Parnell Adams.Great grandchildren: Taryn Mabry, Tanner Mabry, Dylan Calvert, Paige Calvert, Sawyer Adams, Parker Adams, Conner Adams, and Brent Higgins.And a host of other relatives.Troy was preceded in death by his parents, William Riley Adams, Velma Adams, and Connie Adams; a son, Troy Wayne and Sandra Adams; a brother, Melvin Adams; sisters, Dorothy Dawson, Bernice McCaleb, Betty Jo Cook, and Cleta Fay Adams.A special thanks to Valley Hospice for all of their help.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Erin Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Gamble officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
