Thaylia Sue Zurline

February 4, 1947 — July 1, 2023

Thaylia Sue Zurline was born on February 4, 1947, to Robert Pearcy and Lorraine (Venable) Pearcy Franks and passed away July 1, 2023, in Atoka, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years.

Lovingly known as “MaMa T” throughout her children’s youth and “MeMe Z” since becoming a grandmother.  Thaylia Zurline has a special place in many hearts.  She was born and raised in Chickasha, Oklahoma.  She met and married the love of her life William “Bill” Zurline in 1972.

Thaylia could easily claim any town she and Bill resided in as her hometown.  She was a beloved member of town and could easily be found at sporting events and other school functions supporting her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all their friends.  She was forever their cheerleader and she enjoyed watching them grow up and succeed in life.  She was involved with the 4-H, FFA, was a football and band booster. She was a homemaker, a former ward clerk, substitute teacher and was a “master of list making”, but most of all she was a proud parent, aunt, and MeMe.

Lifelong friends from Frederick, Atoka and Maysville, as well as her family are disheartened with the passing of MeMe.  Yet they revel in the joy that MeMe and PaPa are finally together again until the twelfth of never.

Thaylia is survived by: her children, Matt and Kristen Zurline, Mark and Anita Zurline, and Mignon and John Poteet; grandchildren: Maegan and Eric Marquez, Macey and Cooper Flack, and Matt Zurline II, Stephanie and Robby Smithart, Phillip and Jayla Stephens, Jordan Zurline and Colton Murphy, and Nataleigh and Wade Farnan; great-grandchildren: Gabriel Marquez, Axel and Bodi Smithart, Addison Stephens, Karsyn Stephens, Swayze Stephens, Tesla Stephens, Sawyer Sheffield, Tannah Sheffield, Credence Farnan, and Adaline Farnan; brother Jimmy Pearcy; in-laws Connie and Tony Miller, Steve and Lynnette Zurline, Beverly and Doug Durkie, Marilu and Delmar Bowen, and Mike and Serena Zurline, and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Preceded in death by: her father, Robert Pearcy; mother, Lorraine Franks; husband, Bill Zurline;  father-in-law Joe Zurline, mother-in-law, Josephine Zurline, granddaughters Hillary Zurline and Jalissa Underwood Perry; brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert and Elsie Pearcy, Chuck and Brenda Pearcy, Richard and Hazel Pearcy; and her sister and brother-in-law: Trenda and Melvin Hughes.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha, Oklahoma under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma.  Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
