Teresa Darleen Richards was born on April 19, 1956, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Jerry Floyd and Darleen Ann Smith. Teresa was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 20, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love and devotion that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
Teresa married Dee Richards on December 28, 1974. They enjoyed 29 wonderful years together before God called Dee home to Heaven.
Teresa lived a life rich with purpose and faith. She was a devoted mother to her three children: Brad, Stacie, and Nathan. She was a proud grandmother to Bryce, Braden, Jackson, and Benjamin. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her and she prayed for them daily.
Teresa was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Lindsay, and then moved her membership to First Baptist Church of Newcastle in the last few years. She spent many years serving at FBC Lindsay in the nursery and children departments. She was well known for her famous pink sugar cookies. She would spend hours making hundreds of cookies for church events and for family. Her deep connection to her faith was evident in the many ways she enriched her spiritual life, finding solace in listening to podcasts of preachers and reading her Bible on her tablet. Her Sunday School groups both at Lindsay and Newcastle were such a comfort to her.
Teresa loved to travel with Dee and also with her parents. She enjoyed spending that time together, seeing new sights from Cozumel to Alaska. In her younger years, she loved to draw and paint. She had a remarkable talent for it.
Teresa will be remembered not only for her incredible strength, but also for the love she shared so freely and generously. She will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her, and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends, who find comfort in the cherished memories they hold so close.
Teresa is survived by: daughter, Stacie Hill and Matt of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sons: Brad Richards of Alex, Oklahoma and Nathan Richards of Bakersfield, California; brothers: Steven Smith and Dana of Lindsay, Oklahoma and Mark Smith and Connie of Rush Springs, Oklahoma; and grandsons: Bryce Franklin, Braden Franklin, Jackson Hill, and Benjamin Hill.
