Sondra Darlene (Baker) Pratt was born July 24, 1949 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Jess Willard Baker and Lucille Baker, and passed away December 29, 2021.
She attended her early years of school at McCarty dependent school in Garvin County. She then transferred to Elmore City schools where she graduated in 1967. She met her husband, Paul Pratt, during her senior year of H.S. and they were married on March 23, 1967 at the Missionary Baptist Church in Antioch, Oklahoma. She finished her senior year and then joined her husband in Hecker, Illinois where he was stationed with the U.S. Army. They finished a 4 year tour of military service and moved to Ada, Oklahoma to begin pursuing a career in education.
Sondra received her B.S. degree in education and taught in several Oklahoma area schools, including: Elmore City, Maysville, Coalgate and Stratford. During her career in education, Sondra touched many lives and made many lifelong friends.
Sondra and Paul have operated a small farm in the Wallville, Oklahoma area since 1986 where they raised alfalfa and a few head of cattle.
Sondra enjoyed working and spending time with her husband on the farm, working with her students, tending her flowers and plants, spending lots of time with her family, especially her grandkids, motorcycle trips with her husband across the northwestern United States, bible study at home and interacting with her church family and friends.
Sondra was an integral part of the Pauls Valley Opry since it’s inception in 2012 and was inducted into it’s Hall Of Fame in 2015.
Sondra and Paul have been active in the First Baptist Church for the past few years where Sondra served as Sunday School teacher.
Sondra is preceded in death by her parents, Jess Willard and Lucille Baker.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Pratt of the home. One daughter, Mary Allen and husband Billy of Lindsay, Oklahoma. One son, William Pratt and his wife, Marylin of Coalgate, Oklahoma. One brother, Dennis Baker and wife, Nancy of Choctaw, Oklahoma. One Sister, Laura Medford and husband, Don of Elmore City. Along with 5 grandchildren: Sarah Allen, Hailley Pratt, Jacob Allen, Kadin Pratt and Aaron Allen.
Sondra will be sorely missed by a large host of family, friends, students and co-workers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 3, 2022 at the First Baptist Church, Maysville with Bro. Mike Deviney officiating. Burial will be in the Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
