Shirley Sue McCroskey

Shirley Sue McCroskey was born on November 18, 1938 in Pauls Valley, OK to Clarence Isaac and Lela Mae (Hopson) Oldham. She passed peacefully at home with her family by her side on May 29th, 2025 at the age of 86 years.

Shirley was a life long resident of Maysville and graduated there in 1957. On August 30th, 1957, she marred the love of her life and best friend, Loyd Dale McCroskey. They raised four children together on their farm near Maysville; Dale Lynn, Sue Ellen, Carol Ann, and Michael Loyd. Shirley was actively involved in her children’s school activities, including all their sports and ballgames, band, FFA, FHA, and even drove the instrument truck on a few band trips.. She was a member of the Maysville Church of Christ, and worked a few years as a CMA at the McCaskill nursing home. Shirley enjoyed sewing, gardening, farming, and watching and attending any kind of ballgame that she could. She also enjoyed playing card games and dominoes at family get-togethers, and she loved to laugh. She will be dearly missed by her family.

Shirley is survived by her children; Lynn McCroskey of Lindsey OK, Sue Lauderdale and James of Edmond OK, Carol Hein and Joey Jacobs of OKC, and Mike McCroskey and Laura of OKC.

She is also survived by her sister Betty Beams, brother in law Jack McCroskey and Betty Ann, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Seven grandchildren; Emily Lauderdale, Jared Lauderdale, Eslee McCroskey, Maddie McCroskey, Joshua Hein, Megan Van Vechten, Ryan McCroskey.

Five great-grandchildren; Bernie Lauderdale, Savannah Lauderdale, Charlie Lauderdale, Alex Van Vechten, Zoey Moore.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Loyd McCroskey, siblings Bonnie Weeks, Dale Oldham, Wayne Oldham, Bob Oldham, and son in law Steve Hein.

Her family will have a private celebration of her life.
