Rose Evelyn Snelgrooes, born on December 8, 1937, in Maysville, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on April 21, 2026, at the age of 88. Her life was a testament to kindness and dedication, marked by a caregiver's heart and a servant's spirit that touched all who knew her.
Rose dedicated part of her life to teaching pre-school Sunday School, imparting wisdom and nurturing young souls with patience and love. She found joy in the simple, beautiful moments of life, such as tending to her flower garden and indulging in yardwork. Her affection for nature was profound, especially while watching hummingbirds. Traveling with Elvie McCaleb brought her countless cherished memories and adventures, highlighting her zest for life and exploration.
Her family was deeply dear to her heart. She enjoyed watching countless ballgames. Rose’s love extended warmly to her grandchildren—Drew, Shandra, Hannah, and Ashlyn—who, along with her great-grandchildren, Bellamie and Anastasia, carry the light of her memory into the future.
Rose is survived by: daughter, Penny Mathis of Maysville, Oklahoma; son, Bill Snelgrooes of Maysville, Oklahoma; brother, Rick High and Janice of Meeker, Oklahoma; sister, Gemey Lackey of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Drew Snelgrooes, Shandra Mathis, Hannah Mathis, and Ashlyn Snelgrooes; great grandchildren: Bellamie McCoy and Anastasia Brooks.
Rose was preceded in death by: her parents, Foy and Emma High; her husband, Wayne Snelgrooes; her brother, Bobby High; and sisters, Marquita Simmons and Joyce Dudney.
Her peaceful departure leaves a space filled with gratitude for a life lived generously, a heart that gave without measure, and a soul that found happiness in service and family. Rose Snelgrooes' legacy of love and care will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Winans Funeral Home Chapel in Maysville, Oklahoma with Chris Ridgway officiating. Burial at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
