Patricia “Joy” Everett passed away peacefully in Norman, Oklahoma, on September 29, 2026. She was born on April 21, 1929, in Purdy, Oklahoma to Auther “AJ” and Myrtle Barnes. Joy Was preceded in death by husband Hubert Eugene Everett, her parents, Brother Omer Barnes, Sisters Judy Orr and Thelma Worley.
Joy is survived by her children Annette Yarbrough and husband Gary, Stanley Eugene Everett and wife Jana. Four grandchildren Jason Yarbrough and wife Christin, Amanda Brady and husband Todd, Jordan Eugene Everett and wife Natalie, Casey Lyn Hudson and husband John. Ten great grandchildren: Maggie Yarbrough, Faith Yarbrough, Cale Brady and wife Ashtyn, Elijah Eugene Everett, Gabriella Everett, Charlie Everett and Noah Everett, John Douglas Hudson, Eliza Lyn Hudson, Lily Grace Hudson. Three great, great grandchildren Aubrey Brady, Korbyn Brady and Amelia Brady. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.
Joy had three Loves in her life. The greatest being her love for Christ, then her love for Husband Hubert and then her love for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Her love for Christ was seen in her prayer life. Her prayers were not only for her family, but church family, friends and anyone in need. Her devotion and love for her husband Hubert was displayed by 52 years of marriage. She traveled with Hubert to all the States except one. One of her early school teachers gave her a book of travel and told her that she would get to travel as an adult; and travel she did.
One way she expressed her love for children is in her craft of quilting and making special quilts for each grandchild as long as her hands were able. She loved her church and finding ways to serve others and help meet their needs, whether that was through prayer, serving meals or visiting with them during times of need.
She will be missed greatly by Annette, Stanley and family. If you knew Joy you were likely to be considered family to her and she loved you. What a Great Example Joy set for us all.
