Laura Lauvern (Marion) Cable was born May 30, 1940 to Harley and Goldie Marion in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She passed from this life on August 16, 2025 at the age of 85.
Lauvern married the love of her life, Meredon Cable on August 23, 1957. They spent over 65 years together. She was a lifetime resident of Lindsay, graduating from Lindsay High School in 1958.
Lauvern went to work at Jones Drive-In. It became Cable’s Drive-In, which she and Meredon owned and operated from 1971-1987. In 1975 Lauvern and Meredon started Cable Printing Company, a commercial printing business, and in 1983, they purchased The Lindsay News. They both retired in 2008. Both Lauvern and Meredon’s first jobs they worked at, they both ended up owning and operating. Cable Printing Company is still being run by their son, Darrell and is celebrating 50 years of operation this year. The Lindsay News is still being published by son, Darrell and granddaughter, Anisa Ford.
Lauvern was very involved in writing her column for the Lindsay News, called “Vern’s Views” telling the life stories of people from the community. She was also involved in customer sales for Cable Printing Co with Video Debut, which were sold to video stores all over the United States and Puerto Rico.
She loved traveling. Her and Meredon visited all 50 states plus Mexico and Canada.
Lauvern was a member of the Murray Hill Church of Christ.
Left to cherish the memory of Lauvern are sons, Darrell Cable and wife Tammie of Lindsay and Jerry Cable and wife Bonnie of Carencro, LA.; grandchildren, Matt Cable of Louisiana, Bre Cable of Norman, Anisa Ford and husband Jon of Lindsay, Josh Cable of Louisiana, Kaden Cable of Ardmore, John Mark Hornbeck and wife Jenny of Moore and Jay Hornbeck and wife Brooke of Bridge Creek; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Evan Cable, Casen Mitchell, Addileigh and Emery Tucker, Brystol Ford, Chloe, Aubrey and Basin Cable, Cale and Colton Hornbeck, Ridley and River Hornbeck; brothers-in-law , Wayne and wife Karen Cable, Boyd and wife Cheryl Cable and Leland Kay and wife Louise; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lauvern was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Meredon Cable; and brother, Lawrence Marion.
Pallbearers are Kaden Cable, Jon Ford, John Mark Hornbeck, Jay Hornbeck, Dustin Hawkins and Patrick McDonnell.
Honorary Pallbearers are Matt Cable, Josh Cable and Al Mitchell.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at the Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, with Dale Jones and Kaden Cable officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent the family on this website.
