Kietha LaVonne Mainka, 71, of Lindsay, Oklahoma suddenly passed away surrounded by the love of her family.
Just before starting her senior year at Lindsay High School, Kietha married the love of her life, Walter Mainka, on August 5, 1972. They were just weeks away from celebrating 53 years of marriage… a true testament to love, laughter, and lifelong partnership.
In her younger years, Kietha had a need for speed… she had a lead foot everywhere she went, and she loved sports cars and even raced her ’69 Chevelle at the local dragstrip a few times, winning a trophy and earning the bragging rights that she “beat the guys”. She had a passion for barrel racing and spent many weekends traveling to team roping’s and playdays with Walter and their oldest grandson, Taylor.
She was a fiercely proud mom and “Memaw” who rarely missed a ballgame, Anna’s live streamed dance competitions, Tucker’s motocross races, or activities involving her grandchildren. She especially loved watching her only granddaughter Anna dance and bragged about her every chance she got.
Kietha was a talented seamstress, known for creating stunning wedding dresses, cheer uniforms throughout Misti’s cheerleading days, and over the last several years, beautiful quilts. There was nothing she couldn’t do with a sewing machine, often not needing a pattern. She enjoyed recreating beloved recipes from her mother-in-law, Lou’s cookbooks… especially her chicken and dumplings and cinnamon rolls which have been family favorites for many years.
She found joy in the simple things… floating in her pool, framing photos and putting them all through her house that were “borrowed” from her kids and grands social media pages, she was the queen of QVC and always buying the latest trends and recently, preparing to become a great-grandmother to Baby Barrett, proudly calling herself “Gigi” short for Great Grandma.
Kietha is survived by: her husband, Walter Mainka of Lindsay, Oklahoma; daughter, Misti White and husband Johnny of Kingston, Oklahoma; son, Justin Mainka and wife Erin of Blanchard, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Taylor White and wife Summer of Scottsdale, Arizona, Tucker White of Kingston, Oklahoma, and Annaston Mainka of Blanchard, Oklahoma; great-grandson Barrett White of Scottsdale, Arizona; sisters: Renee Mills of Lindsay, Oklahoma and Tricia Mitchell of Carnegie, Oklahoma; brothers: Ronnie Smith of Lindsay, Oklahoma and Ricky Smith of Yukon, Oklahoma; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her father, Veron “Hotshot” Smith; mother, Shirley Smith; and her baby sister, Paula DeAnn Smith.
Kietha will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love she gave, the legacy she leaves, and the lives she touched.
The family will hold a private memorial. Services for cremation are under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
