Jural Donovan Mays

Jural Donovan Mays, born on November 10, 1946, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026. His life, spanning nearly 80 years, was rich with devotion to family, a passion for the great outdoors, and a steadfast commitment to service and hard work.

Jural’s sense of duty and honor was apparent from an early age and led him to serve proudly in the United States Navy. His time in service formed his dedication and strength of character, attributes he carried into every aspect of his life.

After his military service, Jural embarked on a long and fulfilling career as a truck driver. He genuinely enjoyed his work, finding purpose and satisfaction in the open road and the connections he made along the way. His strong work ethic and dependable nature left a positive impression on colleagues and friends alike.

Jural was known to many as a huge outdoorsman. Few things brought him greater joy than spending time hunting, fishing, and camping. He found solace and adventure in nature and shared this passion readily with friends and family. In addition to his love for the outdoors, Jural also enjoyed mechanic work—a testament to his curiosity, resourcefulness, and willingness to solve problems.

Jural was a man who valued relationships. He was known for his friendly nature and for cultivating new friendships wherever he went. Above all, he loved his family profoundly and treasured every moment spent together, embodying the warmth, support, and generosity that defined his character.

Jural will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved him.

Jural is survived by: son, Gary Don Mays of Purcell, Oklahoma; daughters: Rita Mae Hanun and Glendon of Killeen, Texas and Jessie Tyler Mays of Missouri; brother, Jeff Mays and Sherrel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and grandchildren: Kaci King, Kyle McDaniel, Caitlin Parks, John Hanun, Josh Hanun, Jacob Hanun, Hope Hanun, Bailey Hanun, and Wyatt Lyle.

Jural is preceded in death by: parents, Wilburn and Mary Mays and brothers, Danny Mays and Roger Mays.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2026, at Winans Funeral Home Chapel in Maysville, Oklahoma. Services for cremation are under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
