Junelle K High

Junelle “Nana” High passed away on December 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of grit, loyalty, and love that will be felt for generations. Born on August 22, 1951, Junelle lived her life with a rare combination of toughness and heart. She could out‑fish and out‑work any man, and she did it all with a quiet confidence that made her unforgettable. Those who knew her knew loyalty—steadfast, unwavering, and true—because that’s exactly who she was.

Junelle worked many jobs over her lifetime, anything from harvesting cotton, to training attack dogs for DOC, to bar tending/bouncing, to owning her own painting company for many years. In her retirement years she was lovingly known on her Facebook page as a “Pecan Farmer”.

Family was the heart of Junelle's life. She found immense joy in her roles as a mother and grandmother, pouring love and wisdom into her daughters, Tonya and April. This love blossomed further with the arrival of her cherished grandchildren, who were a source of pride and delight throughout her life.

Junelle's passions extended beyond family; she enjoyed an array of hobbies that brought her joy. Her love of nature was evident in her fondness for fishing, hunting, and spent countless hours bird watching outside her home, where she enjoyed observing the playful squirrels scampering about. An afternoon wouldn’t be complete without a refreshing glass of iced tea by her side as she caught a show on the Western Channel or engaged in her favorite pastime of playing dominoes.

Junelle is survived by her daughters, Tonya Adams and David of Lexington, Oklahoma and April High and Phillip Miles of Pauls Valley; and her grandchildren, Blaine, Aaron, McKenna and husband Seth, Andrew, Miranda and husband David, Chris, Sean, PJ, Aiden, Hailey, and Lauren- who were the pride of her life. Living in her legacy as well, remain her 14 great grandchildren- Jakob, Kaiden, Lillian, Kingston, Ryleigh, Scarlet, Ryder, Gabe, Cameron, Neiyah, Nevayah, Maveryk, Kofi, and Ella. She is also survived by her siblings, Joe Selman and Judy of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, Justin Selman and Serita of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Jearl Selman of Arkansas, and Janice Cox and Danny of Lexington, Oklahoma, and her longtime friends, DeAnn Donham and Pat Clure.

Junelle is preceded in death by her parents, DeWitt and Hazel Selman; her brothers, Jerry Selman and James Selman; and her sisters, Joyce Blackwood and Judy Dragoo, as well as her dear friend, Gene Shobert. 

Junelle’s strength, humor, and fierce devotion to the people she loved will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 12, 2025, at Abundant Love Fellowship in Maysville, Oklahoma officiated by Bro. Danny Gamble.
