June 22, 1923 — February 20, 2018

“Ahnie” June Kuykendall of Maysville was born on June 22, 1923 in Texhoma, Oklahoma to Tesie T. and Addie Mae (Crabtree) Willoughby and she passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in Purcell, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years.In 1942 June graduated from high school in Granbury, Texas. She married Leslie Marvin Kuykendall on July 22, 1943 in Hollywood, California. She worked in the factories during the war making military uniforms and mattresses for our troops. June loved spending time with her family and opened her door and heart to take care of and raise many children. She enjoyed writing poetry, decorating cakes, crocheting, and working with the ladies at the Antioch ABC-OHCE. She was most proud of her poetry and short stories she wrote. June had won a contest for short story writing and it made her very proud. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church, Maysville, before joining the Antioch Cowboy Church, Elmore City. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Her survivors include her daughters: Karon Mentz and husband John of Elmore City, and Brandy June Kuykendall and Steve Borenstein of Round Rock, Texas. A son, Rex Owen Kuykendall of Booneville, Arkansas.And 9 grandchildren plus two children she helped raise and multiple children she took under her wing, 21 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.June was preceded in death by her parents, Tesie and Addie Mae Willoughby; husband Leslie Marvin Kuykendall; a son James Marvin Kuykendall; sister Essie Willoughby Lewis; and brothers Albert Willoughby, Vincent Willoughby, and Glen Willoughby.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, PO Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas 79174-0001 or www.calfarley.orgA visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 8 pm, Friday, February 23, 2018 at Winans Funeral Home, 405 Sixth Street (Hwy 19), Maysville.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Green Hill Cemetery, Davis, Oklahoma with Rev.
