JT Deviney

July 4, 1934 — May 8, 2023

JT Deviney of Durant passed peacefully into Heaven on Monday, May 8, 2023 at the age of 88. He was born on July 4, 1934 in Dimple, Texas to Jack and Julia (Delese) Deviney. He married the love of his life Alice Pearl Helvey on May 26, 1953 in Portales, New Mexico.

JT was a logger before his retirement. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing, as well as working outside. JT enjoyed dancing also. He was a resident of Bromide, Oklahoma for many years and attended Bromide Baptist Church. In his later years, as a resident of Durant, he enjoyed going to church at Mead Baptist Church. JT loved his family and looked forward to spending time with them.

Those left to cherish the memory of JT are his son Ronald Lee Deviney, and daughters Tresea Ann Schittker and husband Brian, Patricia Lynn Fischer, and Kimberley Sue Wall and husband John. His legacy lives on with his 22 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents Jack and Julila Deviney, his loving wife Alice Pearl Deviney, daughter Juanita Jiminez and husband Joe, daughter-in-law Lynn Deviney, and son-in-law Anthony Fischer, sisters Helen Potts and husband Oval, and Sybil Deviney, brothers Carl Deviney and wife Ruth, Albert Deviney, and Charles Deviney and wife Frances, as well as two great-grandsons.

Family hour of visitation is Sunday, May 14, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 15, 2023 at The Foundation Church of Maysville in Maysville, Oklahoma. JT will be laid to rest in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma.

Those serving as pallbearers are Ray Deviney, David Deviney, Tony Potts, Chuck Deviney, Jerry Deviney, Larry Deviney, Danny Deviney, and Roy Deviney.  Joey Potts, Jimmy Crisp, and Billy Frank Helvey will serve as honorary pallbearers.
