James Ray Hughes

James Ray Hughes of Lindsay was born on November 19, 1960 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to James Lonnie Hughes and Alma Jo (Hill) Hughes. He passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021 in Lindsay at the age of 60 years.

James lived in Lindsay all of his life. He enjoyed his job working in the oilfield. He loved his family and spending time with them. James also had a love for rodeoing where he was a rodeo clown, nicknamed “Jumpin’ James”. He loved children and being around them. He enjoyed telling stories and sharing with people and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. James Ray was baptized at the Lindsay swimming pool with his church group. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his mother, Alma Jo Hughes of Lindsay.
Son, Brandon Ray Hughes of Norman; and daughter, Jessica Nicole Hughes of Ashflat, Arkansas.
Brother, Lonnie Gordon Hughes and wife Michelle of Lindsay; and sisters: Vicky Annette Janway and husband Chris of Heavener; and Nita Kay Branch and husband Billy of Lindsay.
Grandchildren: Harley, Harper, and Amelia.

James was preceded in death by his father, James Lonnie Hughes.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, July 19, 2021 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville. Burial will be in the Erin Springs Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
