Hervie "Leon" Adkisson

March 13, 1941 — December 18, 2020

Hervie Leon Adkisson of Lindsay was born on March 13, 1941 in Maysville, Oklahoma to Lois and Opal (Reed) Adkisson. He passed from this life on Friday, December 18, 2020 in his home at the age of 79 years.

Leon grew up in Lindsay. In 1959 he joined the U. S. Marine Corps and served his country as a Corporal into the time of the Vietnam War. He married Leta Kay Franklin on December 22, 1963 in Lindsay. Leon led an interesting life where had worked every aspect of the oil industry and had also been an Oklahoma Highway Patrolman. His prized possession was his family and he loved them all immensely and treasured time with them. Leon loved fishing, telling stories, and singing. He was known to bring home stray dogs and Leta would find good homes for them. He was a member of the Erin Springs Baptist Church, a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Lindsay American Legion. Leon will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Those left behind to cherish his memories are his wife of almost 57 years, Leta Kay Adkisson of the home. Children: Lynette Ramming and her husband Coy of Lindsay; and Lanita “Mickie” Yandell of Lindsay and Hervie Lane Adkisson and wife Holly of Tuttle; and sister, Peggy Perdue of Oklahoma City.
17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great grand puppies.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean Kroth; sister, Llian Leighton; and great granddaughter, Kylie Ramming.

Masks and social distancing will be in place at the services and cemetery.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the Erin Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Clay Hicks officiating. Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
