Helena Marie Carter

Helena Marie Carter was born on August 8, 1937 in Elmore City, OK to Finis and Dovie (Johnson) Ivy. She passed away on April 11, 2023 at her home in Lindsay, OK at the age of 85 years. Helena married Mr. Lester Carter on June 18, 1953 in Chickasha, OK that began a lifetime of love and memories. Helena was a hairdresser for many years but what she most enjoyed was being a homemaker for her family. She has been described for being a fantastic cook with Chocolate Gravy being somewhat of a specialty. She enjoyed gardening and canning the vegetables that came out of her family’s garden. Helena loved her family time and spending it with her grandchildren was always special. Helena was a member of the Erin Springs Baptist Church where she enjoyed being a member. Helena is survived by: Son, Hank Carter of Lindsay. Daughters, Marcia and Dennis Pratt of Ardmore, OK; Lesley and Don McNutt of Bradley, OK; Regina and Tony Lewis of The Woodlands, TX. Brother, Alfred and Phyllis Ivy of Elk City, OK. Sister, Lenora and Allen Wilson of Lindsay, OK. Along with nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Helena is preceded in death by: Husband, Lester Carter; Parents, Finis and Dovie Ivy; Daughter, Sheila Bozarth; Sister, Mamie Andrews; Grandson, Curtis Work Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Erin Springs Baptist Church, Erin Springs, OK, officiated by Kim Mays. Burial will be held at Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay OK. Arrangements are under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home. Maysville, OK.
