Glen Ernest Shoemake

Glen Ernest Shoemake, a beacon of light in the lives of so many, passed away peacefully at his home in Lindsay, Oklahoma, on January 14, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on October 5, 1962, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Glen grew to become a highly respected teacher, coach, and principal, embodying a commitment to education that profoundly impacted the lives of his students. He attended Lindsay Schools, graduating in 1980, then continued his education at the University of Oklahoma for his Bachelor's, and Southwestern Oklahoma State University for his Master's.

Glen was not only dedicated to imparting knowledge but also loved being an integral part of his students' journeys. The joy he took in his role shone brightly, and his passion for coaching extended beyond the classroom as he cherished every moment spent watching his son, Tanner, coach as well. His pride in his family was immeasurable, always encouraging their dreams and aspirations. He was immensely proud when his daughter followed in his footsteps by attending OU. He bragged about both of his children every chance he got.

Glen's deep love for his family was rivaled only by his connection to his faith community. As a loyal member and dedicated deacon of The First Baptist Church of Lindsay, he cultivated warm relationships that enriched his spirit and strengthened his resolve. His church family provided him with both support and joy, creating bonds that will endure far beyond this life.

Glen was an avid OU football and softball fan as well as a New York Yankees fan. He also enjoyed music and woodworking, especially for his wife and all of her plants. Nature called to Glen, and he answered with open arms. He treasured the tranquility of fishing and the simple joys of being outdoors, including golfing with anyone that would go with him. Whether casting a line into a serene lake or embarking on adventures with family, Glen found fulfillment in the beauty of God's creation.

Glen is survived by his devoted wife, Twana, who stood by him through every chapter, sharing laughter, love, and cherished moments. His daughter, Taylor Breath, and her husband, Eric, along with his son, Tanner Shoemake, and his wife, Haley, were gifts in his life that brought him continual happiness. Glen also leaves behind three grandchildren, Jaiden, Baker, and Blakelyn, whose smiles and laughter were a constant source of joy. Glen's sisters, Laura Shoemake and Kathy Jones, and sister-in-law, Leslie Shoemake, as well as sisters-in-law, Joy Stewart, Linda Scruggs, Della (and husband, Mike) Thomas, Becky (and husband, Carlton) White, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will also hold dear their memories of their beloved brother, uncle, and cousin.

As we remember Glen Ernest Shoemake, let us carry forward his legacy of compassion, dedication, and love. His impact will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him. He was welcomed with open arms by his parents, Garland Shoemake and Oleta Shoemake, and his twin brother, Lynn, who preceded him in death. In our memories, Glen will always remain a guiding light, forever inspiring us through his unwavering spirit and love.
