Gayla Sue Rouse, born on February 6, 1949, in Lindsay, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, in Norman, Oklahoma. With a heart full of love and dedication, Gayla lived a life rich with family, faith, and cherished memories.

As a butcher at Goodner’s Grocery, Gayla approached her work with the same commitment she showed in her personal life. However, her true joy was found not in her profession, but in the warmth of her family. She was a devoted mother to her children, Kevin Shaffer, John Standley, Darla Sperry, and Jen Standley, never missing a single sporting event of theirs. Her unwavering support and encouragement became the foundation upon which they built their lives.

Gayla had a lively spirit, celebrated by her hobbies and interests. An avid reader who cherished her Bible, she found comfort in scripture and the messages shared during KBLP church services. Her enjoyment for music and enthusiasm for the Oklahoma Sooners showcased her vibrant personality. In her leisure time, Gayla found joy in the simple pleasures of life, indulging in games of bingo and wahoo.

Family gatherings were a highlight of her life, as she created lasting memories with those she loved. She is survived by her children, sons Kevin Shaffer and John Standley, daughters Jen Standley and Darla Sperry and her husband, Mike, step-son Joe-Bill Rouse, along with daughters-in-law Dana Vandever, Donna Davis, and Brenda Henderson. Gayla was also a proud grandmother to Chase Layton, Kaitlyn Henderson, and Mason Sperry, who will undoubtedly carry forward the lessons of love and strength she imparted.

Gayla's legacy lives on through her siblings, Herb Dutton, Hank Dutton, and Phyliss Ivy, whose bonds she cherished deeply. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, John Henry Dutton and Thelma Cleo Dutton, as well as her husbands, Joe Standley and Larry Rouse, her siblings, Fern Taylor, David Dutton, Shirley Dennis, Addie Mae Yarbrough, and granddaughter Kylie Johnston.

In the hearts of all who knew her, Gayla Sue Rouse will be remembered not just for her accomplishments, but for her warm smile, her generous spirit, and her boundless love for family. Her light will shine brightly in the memories of those she leaves behind.
