Everett Norman Johnston, Jr.

October 26, 1945 — November 4, 2022

Everett Norman Johnston, Jr., 77, of Lindsay, departed this earthly life and went to be with his Lord on November 4, 2022. Everett was born October 26, 1945, in Carmi, Illinois to Mae and Everett Johnston.

His family moved to Lindsay, Oklahoma during Everett’s junior year in high school, where he met his wife of 58 years, Martha Cantrell. Everett served in the National Guard from 1963 – 1969. He also worked in the oil field for many years and ran his own BBQ restaurant in Bradley. He was a member of Missionary Baptist Church and later Erin Springs Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Lions Club and American Legion and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Steve Johnston and Milt Dunn, a sister-in-law, Shelby Jean Dunn, and two nephews, Jason Johnston, and Dalton Ernst.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Johnston of Lindsay, three sons, Michael Johnston (Sheree) of Lindsay, Bryan Johnston (Kalisa) of Norman, and Darin Johnston (Kim) of Bradley, two brothers, Carl Johnston (Judy) of Lone Grove and Mark Johnston of Wilson. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren who were very dear to him, and many beloved nephews and nieces.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the amazing nurses and staff at Cottonwood Creek Skilled Nursing and Therapy in Chickasha.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at 2pm at Erin Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Clay Hicks officiating. Burial will be in the Purdy Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com

Open visitation will be held from 9 am to 6 pm on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 and Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 9 am to noon.
