Edna Earl (Farmer) Sharp was born July 19, 1930, in Malakoff, Texas to William Preston Farmer and Nettie Josephine (Carroll) Farmer. She passed from this life on June 18, 2025, in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 94.
She grew up near Kilgore, Texas graduating from Leverett’s Chapel in 1948. On July 31, 1948, she married David Allen Sharp and soon after marriage they moved to Maysville, Oklahoma where David worked for Warren Petroleum. They lived in Maysville for 23 years and raised two sons, George Allen Sharp and Mark Stephen Sharp. In late 1970, they moved to Norman as Edna was working for the University of Oklahoma. They also lived for a short time in Slaughterville before moving back to Chandler, Texas to enjoy retirement living on Lake Palestine.
Edna always enjoyed her family and especially liked playing piano and organ, fishing, playing cards, and dominoes with family and friends. She also enjoyed being with her grandson Jeffrey Scott Sharp. She and David also enjoyed traveling.
Edna is survived by son, Mark and Judy of Norman, Grandson, Jeffrey and Emily, Great grandchildren Jonathan and Julia, sister Margaret Council, brother William (Sony) Farmer and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by Husband David, son George, parents William (Bill) and Nettie (Jo), Brother James, sisters Billie Sharp and Naomi Goletz.
She will be laid to rest in Friendship Cemetery near Gladewater, Texas beside David and George.
The family would like to thank Luxelife and Trinity Hospice for their special care during her last three years.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Maysville Education Foundation.
