Donald Ray George

Donald Ray George was born on November 4, 1948, in Lindsay, Oklahoma, to Thomas and Pauline (Tharp) George. He peacefully passed on April 27, 2024, in Norman, Oklahoma, at the age of 75. Donald's roots were deeply embedded in Lindsay, where he completed his education at Lindsay High School. Donald fervently prayed for a spouse and family post-graduation, a period of long waiting he often recounted. On November 21, 1974, Donald married Shirley Franklin, the love of his life.

Along with a dedicated husband, Donald was a devoted father, grandpa, and great-grandpa, continually showing his family what unconditional love truly meant. Donald shared countless memorable moments with his family, whether fishing by the pond, swimming at the lake, gardening, or gathering around the television to watch classic shows like M.A.S.H. or black-and-white westerns. Donald's love extended beyond his family, including spending time with his companion, Teddy, his faithful dog.

In addition to his dedication to his family and faith, Donald made significant contributions to the oil industry throughout his career. Donald loved the Lord, and his devotion to his faith was unwavering, finding comfort and purpose in his church community. He was an avid reader of the Bible and actively involved in ministry, particularly with the youth, whom he mentored and taught about the importance of knowing Jesus.

Donald is survived by his son, Britt George and his wife Joy of Lindsay, Oklahoma; daughters Aimee Newman and her husband Robert of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Amber Zenor and her husband Rick of Yukon, Oklahoma; his brother Ronnie George and his wife Becky of Rawlins, Wyoming; sisters Paula Bailey and her husband Mike of Lindsay, Oklahoma, and Rhonda Hallam and her husband Kim of Arkansas; grandchildren Skylor Needham and husband Weston, Madison Zenor, Cailee Zenor, Nikki Newman, and Joshua Newman, Zac Williams and his wife Amanda, and Cody Williams and his wife Deeandra; great-grandchildren Lorelei Williams, Peyton Williams, Braylee Needham, Zechariah Williams, Brody Needham, Barrett Needham, and Bennett Williams.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley; his parents, Thomas and Pauline George; and his sister, Donna Lindsey.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the Assembly of God Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma.
