Bobby William Bridwell, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was born on January 23, 1937, in Lindsay, Oklahoma, to Seth and Siccola (Smith) Bridwell. He was raised in Lindsay; the community he would call home throughout his long and faithful life. On March 27, 2026, Bob peacefully went home to be with Jesus at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his own home.
As a child, he raised and showed pigs through FFA and was a proud member of his high school football team. He would often recall that his senior team would have won state — if only the championship hadn’t been cancelled that year. He spent many memorable years alongside his grandfather and others harvesting broom corn. He was an active member of the Methodist Church and gave his life to Christ at a young age. After marrying, Bob began faithfully attending the First Baptist Church of Lindsay, where he served with dedication for many years.
After graduating from high school in 1955, Bob served his country in the Air National Guard for two years, then surveyed the islands off the coast of Lake Michigan. Later, he began working for Henry Adams Plumbing. While continuing to work part-time as a plumber, he started farming and ranching with his dad— a vocation he would pursue with devotion and pride for the rest of his life.
Bob met the love of his life, Bonnie Sublette, early in life. He finally asked her out on a date while she was working at the Jones Dairy. The two were married June 20, 1959. Together, Bob and Bonnie built a beautiful life, sharing 60 wonderful years before her passing in 2019. Their union was a blessing that grew into four children, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Bob cherished every moment with his family and friends. He loved listening to music, traveling, going to the lake, antiquing, playing cards, and staying deeply involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. His presence at their milestones, and everyday moments meant the world to all who knew him. He never met a stranger and never failed to lend a helping hand for anyone in need. In fact, any large function or gathering, he was always the last one to leave.
Bob is survived by his children Janna Bridwell of Pauls Valley, Robin Blough and husband Michael of Lindsay, Holly Ellis and husband Russell of Moore, Shawn Bridwell and wife Heather of Lindsay.
His grandchildren: Kylie Mundell and husband Kyle of Washington, Shawn Blough and wife Kaitlyn of Washington, Morgen Potts and husband John of Atoka, Elizabeth Robbins and husband Quinton of Maysville, Samuel Ellis and wife Amanda of Guthrie, Lily Smith and husband Mikey of Lindsay, Ryan Ellis and wife Debbie of Barling, Arkansas, and Jewell and Grant Bridwell of Lindsay.
His great-grandchildren: Myla and Ellie Blough, Emerie, Axton, and Future Baby Mundell, Jameson and Collins Potts, and Logan Smith.
Also surviving Bob is his sister Setha Lucero and husband Rudy of Yukon, sister-in-law Barbara Bridwell of Ponca City, brothers-in-laws Thomas Sublette and wife Vinita of Edmond, Jerry Sublette of Lindsay, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bonnie Bridwell, his parents, Seth and Siccola Bridwell, his brother, Bill Bridwell, and his grandchildren, Robert and Rachael Ellis.
Heartfelt thanks from the family goes to Carol and Verl who first allowed Bob to stay independent in his life. The family also wishes to extend thanks to Jennifer, Kim, Kathy, Misty, and Maggie for their exceptional care for Bob in the last years of his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church Lindsay and also the Lindsay Community Historical Society.
