Bobby James Baker

Bobby James Baker of Maysville, Oklahoma was born on May 23, 1932 to Barney Bud Baker and Lucille (Holmes) Baker. He passed from this life on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 in Oklahoma City at the age of 88 years.

Bobby grew up in the Maysville area. While attending Maysville High School, he loved playing basketball and was recruited by Bradley High School to play for them. He married Wyomi Reeves on April 25, 1953 in Maysville and they were married for 67 and 1/2 years. Bobby served his country in the U. S. Army and when he got out they established their home in Maysville. He worked in the oilfield for Capitol Well Service for many years. He loved his family and worked very hard to provide for them. Bobby enjoyed his life immensely and doing anything and everything he could for his family at anytime. He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed working in the yard and being a part of the Maysville American Legion. Bobby faithfully served on the Maysville School Board and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maysville where he served as an usher and janitor for many years. “Papa” Bob, as he was known to his family and friends, will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife Wyomi “Nan” of the home.
Daughters: Sherry Wilson of Norman and Jan Stewart and husband Wayne of Elmore City.
Grandchildren: Amy Morris and husband Danny (Drew and Alex) of Norman; Crystal Johnson and husband JW (Ketch and Kolt)of Pauls Valley; Ashley Winter and husband Seth (Kade and Khloe) of Perkins.
Great grandson: Braden Schramm and wife Jordan (Mason and Weston) of Princeton, TX.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Lucille Baker; brothers, Luke Baker and Harvey Baker; and sisters, Dorothy Harris and LaVerl Somers.

Masks and social distancing will be in place at the church and cemetery.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, October 23, 2020 at the First Baptist Church, Maysville with John R. Williams and Bro. Brent Higgins officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
