Bobbie “Bob” Dean Wells

February 10, 1943 – August 20, 2025

Bobbie “Bob” Dean Wells, 82, of Wayne, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home on August 20, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Born in Lexington, OK, on February 10, 1943, to Bertha May and Eugene Wells, Bob grew up with his brother Donnie and sisters Shirley and Janie. He attended Lexington High School, where he was an outstanding basketball player, earning the opportunity to play one year at the college level before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy.

After his service, Bob began his career as a telephone lineman with GTE, where he worked from 1968 to 1981. He then transitioned into oilfield sales, where his work ethic, humor, and ability to connect with people built lifelong friendships. He worked faithfully until his retirement in 2015.

For over 40 years, Bob was an avid bass tournament fisherman, competing in lakes across Oklahoma and beyond. He also loved hunting, bowling in leagues with Judy and friends, and sharing the outdoors with his family. He and Judy loved going dancing together, and they never missed a chance to enjoy life side by side. Known for his legendary fish fries that could feed hundreds, Bob had a gift for bringing people together.

Bob made people laugh wherever he went, with a sly smile, a quick joke, or a made-up song. But he was also a man who “didn’t suffer a fool”—straightforward, honest, and unafraid to speak his mind.

Above all, Bob was a family man. He married the love of his life, Judy, on August 12, 1968, and together they shared 57 years of love and partnership. He was a devoted father to Janet (Jeff) Fielder and Jesse (Katy) Wells, and a proud Papa to Jacob (Kait), Julie, Luke, and Jenna. He rarely missed a ball game, FFA show, or family event, and he found immense joy in celebrating his grandchildren’s lives and accomplishments.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha May and Eugene Wells; his brother, Donnie; and his sisters, Shirley and Janie.

Bob is survived by his wife Judy of Wayne; his children, Janet (Jeff) Fielder and Jesse (Katy) Wells; his grandchildren, Jacob (Kait), Julie, Luke, and Jenna; and many extended family members and friends who will always cherish his memory.

Bob will be remembered as a man of strength, humor, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the laughter he sparked, the traditions he built, and the countless lives he touched.

A private family service will be held in his honor.  Arrangements are under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma.  Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
