Billy "Bill" Ray Ramsey

Billy "Bill" Ray Ramsey was born in Lindsay, Oklahoma on November 27, 1935, to C.T. and Ora Della (Slate) Ramsey and passed away on April 4, 2026, at 1:20 a.m., with his wife and youngest daughter by his side at the age of 90 years, 4 months, and 6 days.

Bill started school at Hughes and then moved to California for one year before moving back to Erin Springs School. And finally attending Lindsay Schools where he played football.

Bill and Betty Jo McKenzie were married in January of 1955. Freddy Ray and Teresa Jane were added to the family. Betty Jo passed in childbirth leaving Bill and his little children.

Bill married Wanda Lou Riley on March 15, 1960. Betty Ann and Billy Greg were added to their family.

Bill worked several years as an assistant manager for Gordon White Lumber. He also worked in the oilfield and was a heavy equipment operator before starting his own tire shop which he operated for a number of years.

Bill loved to garden and painted many beautiful pictures which his family dearly loves and will cherish for years to come. He loved his dog Jack and his chickens but most of all he loved people. He always thought he hadn't done what God wanted if he didn't make his round hugging and shaking hands with as many people as possible at church. Bill was a man of God and a member of Erin Springs Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memories are: loving wife, Wanda Ramsey; children: Freddy Ray (Donnita), Billy Greg, Teresa Jane Baker, and Betty Ann Chandler (Ronnie). He leaves grandchildren: Tiffany Baker Woods (Ricky), Brock Allen Baker (Krista), Trent Chandler, and Kyla Ramsey; and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by: his parents, C. T. and Ora Ramsey and all 4 siblings: Helen Earlene Ramsey Wofford, Bernest John (BJ) Ramsey, Earnest Leon (EL) Ramsey, and Betty Fay Ramsey Culter (Bill's twin sister).

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Erin Springs Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
