William G. “Bill” Guthrie of Maysville, OK/Justin, TX was born on August 4, 1941 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to William Charlie “Bill” and Helen Roberta (Haney) Guthrie and passed from this life on Sunday, October 20, 2019 in his home at Justin, Texas at the age of 78 years.
Bill graduated from Maysville High School in 1959 and attended the University of Oklahoma. He married Carolyn Crews on December 31, 1967 in Cypress, Texas and they lived in Irving, Texas before moving to Justin, Texas 46 years ago. Bill worked for Eastern Airlines for 30 years before retiring and now he was enjoying farming the old home place near Maysville. He loved his family and spending time with them and he enjoyed blue grass music, restoring old cars, and OU Football games. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church of Denton, Texas and the Choctaw Indian Tribe. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
His survivors include his wife of almost 52 years, Carolyn of the home.
Son, Roger Guthrie and wife, Melany of Lubbock, Texas; and a grandson, Andrew Guthrie of Lubbock, Texas.
Sisters: Rochelle Lauderdale of Grand Prairie, Texas and Charlotte Young of Lubbock, Texas.
And many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Helen Guthrie; brothers-in-law, Edward Lauderdale and Harold Young.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the Hillside Cemetery, Purcell, OK with Dr. John Beck officiating. Burial will be under the direction of John W.
