Betty Jean Britton

Betty Jean (Goldsmith) Britton of Lindsay was born on December 22, 1919 in Barnsdall, Oklahoma to Ora Earl Goldsmith and Margaret Ethel (Hazlett) Goldsmith. She passed from this life on Saturday, June 15, 2019 in Lindsay, Oklahoma at the age of 99 years. Betty was a graduate of Stroud High School and she attended OU, OSU, and Hall College of Business in Elk City. She married Earshel Gale Britton on October 20, 1940 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She lived in Lindsay for over 50 years. Betty and Earshel spent 17 retirement years on Lake Texoma making wonderful friends. She worked as a clerk for the Garvin County Health Department for many years before retiring. She was a dedicated homemaker who loved her family and the times they could be together. Thanksgiving and Christmas were very special times of the year for all them to spend time together. Betty loved to read, swim, do water aerobics, and sew. She was a member of the St. Michaels Episcopal Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Betty will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her survivors include her sons: Bob Britton and wife Lesa of Lindsay and Don Britton and wife Charlotte of Shawnee.A daughter, Gail Brown and husband Chris of Louisburg, Kansas.Grandchildren: Natalie Conner, Monica White, Dana Britton, Zac Brown, Christain Brown, Jairus Brown, Chelsea Montgomery, and Dusti Gann.Great Grandchildren: Jaxon Conner, Brody White, Perry White, Emercyn Brown, Danica Gann, and Ashley Gann. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earshel Britton, and brother, Cliff Harold “Hap” Goldsmith. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay, OK with Rev. Janie Kirk Morris officiating. Burial will be under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
