Barbara Annette Mitchell

Barbara Annette Mitchell, a cherished soul who filled the lives of her loved ones with love and joy, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, at the age of 75. She was born on June 19, 1950, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Jack and Helen (Coleman) Holman.

For many years, Barbara dedicated herself to her career, first at Wal-Mart in Lindsay, before moving on to REC, where she retired after 20 years. Her work ethic was matched only by her generosity and kindness, traits that endeared her to colleagues and customers alike.

Barbara's love for her family was evident in everything she did. She was a devoted wife to John and a proud mother to Christopher, Steven, and Robert. Her heart swelled with happiness for her grandchildren, Allyson, Elaine, Autumn, Azlyn, and Ember, as well as her great-grandchildren, William, Tre, Theodore, and Ava. Each of them brought immense joy into her life, and she took great delight in watching them grow, supporting their ambitions, and celebrating their milestones.

Her passion extended far beyond her family. A longtime member of the Homemakers Extension Club, Barbara was also an enthusiastic collector of angels and had an eye for finding treasures at yard sales and auctions, always on the lookout for the next great bargain. A gifted baker known for her stunning cake creations. Barbara had a special talent for making candy during the Christmas season, a tradition that brought her family together in celebration and sweetness. Additionally, she was an excellent seamstress.

Barbara is survived by: loving husband, John Mitchell; sons: Christopher Mitchell and Belinda of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Steven Mitchell of Norman, Oklahoma, and Robert Mitchell and Jennifer of Penrose, Colorado; grandchildren: Allyson, Elaine, Autumn, Azlyn, and Ember; and great grandchildren: William, Tre, Theodore, and Ava.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Helen Holman and brothers, Jack Doyle Holman, Jr. and Robert Scott Holman.

Family and Friends Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 12, 2026, at Winans Funeral Home Chapel in Maysville, Oklahoma. Burial to follow at Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
