Anita Leona Medellin was born on June 7, 1962, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Deward and Vera (Jones) Burrows. She passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 63.
Anita’s career as the Head Cook at the Senior Nutrition Center in Lindsay, Oklahoma was more than just a job - it was a calling. She found joy in preparing meals and seeing the smiles that lit up the faces of the patrons she served. Even though she loved her job she decided to retire in January 2019 so she could spend time with her family.
Known for her straightforward nature, Anita never sugarcoated the truth. Her friends and family valued her honesty, knowing they could always depend on her genuine words. She treasured her friendships dearly, fostering bonds built on trust and sincerity.
Outside her professional life, Anita enjoyed bingo and the occasional visit to the casino, pursuits that brought her happiness.
Family was the heart of Anita’s world. She proudly considered her family her greatest accomplishment and cherished every moment spent together. From going to spend family-time at the lake or just having cookouts she was at her happiest. What she cherished most of all is that all her children stayed in their hometown of Lindsay and had such close relationships.
Anita will be deeply missed, yet forever remembered, for the fullness she brought to the lives around her.
Anita is survived by her children: Greg Medellin and wife Monica, Rebecca Rivera and husband Agustin, Marcus Medellin, Eric Medellin, Max Medellin and wife Kali, Stephanie Medellin and husband Junior. She is also survived by; her brother Dale (Chunky) Burrows, 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Anita was preceded in death by: her husband Gregorio Medellin; her parents, Deward and Vera Burrows; brothers, Gary Deward Burrows, Delbert George Mosher, Gene Mosher, and sister Sherri Annette Burrows Carrot; grandchildren Max and Raya Medellin; and daughter-in-law Amanda Medellin.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma. Words of comfort may be sent to the family on this website.
