Bessie Geraldine Williams

Bessie Geraldine (Sublette) Williams was born on September 20, 1924 in Foster, Oklahoma to E. G. “Eugene” and Ida Garvin (Witten) Sublette. She went home to her Lord and Savior at the age of 92, August 3, 2017 in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Geraldine graduated from Hughes High School at the age of 16 and married Herbert Lindle Williams December 13, 1941 in Bradley, Oklahoma. They were married for 66 years until his passing on June 26, 2008. During their marriage they had 5 children, Virginia, Charles, Dwight, Kathleen, and Robin. At the age of 42, she pursued her lifetime dream of becoming a nurse. She attended Oklahoma City Vocational School of Nursing where she obtained her LPN license. She worked for Bill Burford at Lindsay Manor Nursing Home and McCaskill’s Nursing Home in Maysville then went to private duty nursing. She and Herbert traveled the United States, then an opportunity came along for her to go to Israel which was a lifelong dream of hers. She was known for her famous German Chocolate Cake, attending sporting events to watch her children and grandchildren play. She loved teaching her grandchildren the Bible verse John 3:16 and reading the book “Are You My Mother?”. She is survived by her children: Virginia English and husband Lyndell, Dwight Williams and wife Veronica, Kathleen Reiss, and Robin Staggs and husband Steve. Grandchildren: Michael English, Amy Keck and husband Casey, Matthew Williams, Bryan Williams and wife Tiffany, Stephanie Russell and husband Riley, and Leslie Jones. Great grandchildren: Carson English, Jordan Keck, Arica, Bo, and Maddie Williams, Cade and Cooper Williams, Hunter and Hallee Russell, and Axel Jones. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Lindle Williams; brothers, Shelby Skaggs, Tom Sublette, and Harvey Sublette; her sisters, Willie Sublette, Pat Sublette London, Mae Sublette Whitt, Pinie Sublette, and Ida Jean Ysidro. One son, Charles Eugene Williams, a granddaughter, Andrea Leigh Williams, and a great granddaughter, Ava Jade Welsh. Private family graveside services were held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay, OK with Bro. Wearthy Shank officiating. Burial was under the direction of John W.
