Leonard Jerald Reed, II of Euless, Texas, formerly of Lindsay, Oklahoma was born on December 7, 1974 in Altus, Oklahoma to Dennis Reed and Edra (Jones) Reed. He unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in his home at the age of 42 years. Coach Leonard Reed had just finished his 19th year as a teacher and a coach, and his 4th at Highland Park High School. He was an assistant wrestling and football coach at Fort Worth Trimble Tech before coming to Highland Park in 2013. Coach Reed served as a math teacher, assistant football coach, and varsity assistant wrestling coach. He graduated 5th in his class from Lindsay High School in 1993 and earned All-State honors in football as an Offensive Lineman. In 1997, he graduated with honors from East Central University with a Bachelor of Science degree and was also a member of East Central’s 1993 National Championship football team. Leonard has been married to his lovely wife Penne for 22 years and they have three wonderful children; Jame is starting her nursing degree, Alexis is an incoming senior, and Trey is an incoming sophomore both at Euless Trinity. Leonard recently completed his Master’s Degree in December in Mathematical Curriculum from UTA. Coach Reed has been an amazing asset to his community teaching and coaching his students with tireless enthusiasm, dedication, and respect. He loved spending time with his family and watching his children play sports and enjoyed eating, golfing, fishing, hunting, being outdoors, playing cards and games, and cheating at board games. Leonard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Euless, Texas. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. His survivors include his wife Penne and children Jame Lea Reed, Alexis Hope Reed, and Trey Austin Reed all of the home in Euless, Texas. Father, Dennis Reed of Martha, Oklahoma. Grandmother, Jane Jones of Lindsay, Oklahoma. Step-father, Gerry Baker of Dallas, Texas. Brothers: Chris Reed and wife Lola of Washington State; Trenton Reed and wife Lori of Mustang, Oklahoma; and Tyler Reed of Altus, Oklahoma. A step-sister, Dusty Jandrew and husband Justin of Forney, Texas. Many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Leonard was preceded in death by his mother, Edra Baker; grandparents, Mildred Reed, Leonard Jerald Reed, and Edward Isaac Jones. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, June 23, 2017 from at Winans Funeral Home, 405 Sixth Street, Maysville, OK. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the First Assembly of God Church, Maysville, OK with Bro. Jason Baldwin and Rev. Michael Daggett officiating. Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay, OK under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
