Betty Jean Parr

October 29, 1929 — April 23, 2017

Betty Jean Parr was born on October 29, 1929 in Alex, Oklahoma to Sim and Maud (Livesay) Strickler. She passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 in Lindsay, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years old. Betty lived in Alex until her parents moved to California to work during World War II. When they moved back to Oklahoma, they moved to Lindsay. Betty was in the 10th grade when she started at Lindsay High School then graduated in 1947. Not long after she moved back, she was introduced to James. They dated for several years and were married in 1948. James moved the town girl to the country and she loved it. Betty worked at the First National Bank for many years. When their daughter came along, she decided to stay home and care for her. When Nancy started to school, Betty went back to work at the bank. Nancy was involved with her horse in 4-H Club and Betty kept busy hauling her around. In later years their grandson, Lloyd was born. Lloyd was such a joy to Betty and James. She loved caring for him. Lloyd was involved in many activities at school but one of the best was playing baseball. He started T-Ball and played through high school. From the beginning Betty and James never missed a ballgame. Lloyd was always ready to go rodeoing and they were happy to take him. When Lloyd was 12, Raychel was born. She was such a sweet baby and Betty always wanted to babysit. She and James went to the football games on Friday night to watch Raychel play in the band and also attended her piano concerts. One of Betty’s closest and dearest person was Fannie, James’ mother. Betty said she was so lucky to have “2" mothers, Fannie and her mother who she loved dearly. Betty and James enjoyed the same things, rodeoing, dancing, and taking care of their family. Her survivors include her daughter, Nancy Murray of Wynnewood. Grandson, Lloyd ‘Lil Bever’ McCoy, Jr. and granddaughter, Raychel Parr Murray. And nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her many dear cousins and many dear friends and caregivers. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband James, her father and mother Sim and Maud Strinkler; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jess and Fannie Parr; 3 brothers and 2 sisters; a stillborn son; and twin grandsons who died in infancy. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, April 27, 2017 graveside at Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay with Bro. Mike Johnston officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of John W.
