George Leonard Gregory

George Leonard Gregory of Norman was born on July 17, 1946 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Raymond Paul Gregory and Velma Marie (Fraley) Gregory. He passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 70 years. Leonard lived in Norman most of his life, graduating from Norman High School in 1965. He worked in construction before going to work as an estimator at the FAA Center for 17 years and then retired. He enjoyed deer hunting, reading Old West History, drag racing his cars, and bass fishing, especially in tournaments. Leonard loved cooking and never used a recipe. He was always there to watch his children’s school activities and instill strong work ethics in them. He was affiliated with the Baptist Church and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His survivors include his son, Eric Gregory and wife Mandy of Maysville. A daughter, Kelly Compton and husband Cody of Norman. Brother, Leslie Gregory and wife Linda of Noble. Sister, Susan Ackerman and husband Jerry of Okemah. Grandchildren: Zach Ashbey, Katie Ashbey, Jacob Compton, Madelyn Compton, and Ray Compton. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Velma Gregory. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Bethel Baptist Church, 1717 West Lindsay Street, Norman, Oklahoma with Kent Stewart and Todd Carr officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery, Norman under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
