Freda Jo Carson

Freda “Jo” Carson of Pauls Valley was born on December 21, 1927 in Kinta, Oklahoma to Audie Raper and Elizabeth (Cummings) Raper. She passed from this life on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in Pauls Valley at the age of 89 Years. Jo grew up in Kinta, graduating from Kinta High School in 1945 and then attended one year at Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater and one year at OBU in Shawnee. She married William LaRoy Carson on July 27, 1947 in Kinta, Oklahoma and they moved to Maysville, Oklahoma in 1948. She took pride in teaching private music lessons to many students that she loved dearly. Jo was a spirited woman who in her youth was a vivacious girl who loved horseback riding with her best friend, Noey of 89 years. She loved living the country life in general, and she mostly enjoyed spending time with family. She was involved in everything musical and loved doing all she could for her church to share her faith. The longest part of her life, Chicken, as LaRoy used to call her, was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Maysville. She later moved and joined the Pauls Valley First Baptist Church, where she taught “J Life”, and was actively involved with the Fellowship Class, where she helped young children grow more spiritually. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Grandmama/Boombother’s survivors include her children, Craig Carson and wife Beverly of Pauls Valley and daughter, Candace Gibson and husband Dennis of Pauls Valley. Grandchildren include Nathan Carson, Chris Carson, Carissa Wills, and Cara Polach. Great-grandchildren: Max and Ty Carson, Aiden and Maddie Carson, Blake Powell, and Dylan, Bailey, and Aiden Wills. Niece and nephew: Tom and Andrea McCabe. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Audie and Elizabeth Raper, and her husband, LaRoy Carson. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 pm, Friday, January 20, 2017 at Winans Funeral Home, 405 6th St., Maysville, OK. Graveside services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Maysville Cemetery with J.V. Lobaugh officiating. Burial is under the direction of John. W.
