Richard Duane Robinson

March 20, 1950 — January 11, 2017

Richard Duane Robinson was born on March 20, 1950 in Pauls Valley, OK and passed away on January 11, 2017 after a brief illness. He was the son of Farris Michael “Robbie” and Edna Mae Robinson. He was 66 years old. Richard graduated from Maysville High School in 1968 and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma. After student teaching, he decided he did not want to teach, so he moved to Tulsa, OK. Here, he completed 2 Masters degrees at the University of Tulsa, one in Art History and the second one in Library Science. Richard moved back to his hometown of Maysville in 1989. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Maysville and the Chickasaw Senior Citizen Center in Pauls Valley. He was very proud of his Native American heritage and enjoyed participating in the daily activities and meals at the Center. He enjoyed writing the weekly column entitled “The Church Mouse”, as well as stamp and coin collecting. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Robbie and Edna Mae Robinson. He is survived by one sister, Diane McBride and husband, Michael of Norman; 3 nieces, Stephanie and Bryan Jones, Rendi and Weston Hunt and Jill Turner and Carrie Smyser, all of Norman; 4 nephews, 2 nieces and 3 great nieces, as well as a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Maysville, Monday, January 16, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. with Bro. Mike Deviney officiating. Burial services will follow at the Maysville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville. The family would like to thank the members of the First United Methodist Church, the staff and the participants of the Chickasaw Senior Citizen Center, and the Citizens of Maysville for their love, concern, care and welcoming spirit for Richard.
