O. B. Puckett

O. B. Puckett was born on May 19, 1927 in Hawkins, Texas to Charles Robert Puckett and Gertrude (Reinhardt) Puckett. He went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the age of 89 years. O. B. grew up in East Texas and served his country in the U. S. Naval Service in the Asiatic-Pacific Area during World War II. He married Willie Jo Johnson in November 1947 and they moved to Maysville that same year where he went to work for Warren Petroleum as a welder and as an electrician. O. B. loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had a passion for woodworking and making things for his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting guns, fast pitch softball, going to Senior Citizens Center and Cup O’ Joe to play dominos and fellowship with his friends. O. B. married Ruth Hatfield in 1997. O. B. was member of the Maysville American Legion and the Masonic Lodge and a faithful member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Maysville, which he loved deeply. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. His survivors include daughter, Mary “Trudy” Port and husband, John of Edmond. Sons: Michael Joe Puckett and wife, Christie, Todd Hatfield and wife, Pam and Grant Hatfield all of Maysville. A brother, Leonard Puckett of Whittier, California and a sister Dessi Olague of Seattle, Washington. Grandchildren: Cathleen Tichenor and husband, Joe of Oklahoma City; John Clark Port and wife, Larissa of Choctaw; Jeffrey Port, and Colleen Port, both of Edmond; Christopher Puckett and wife, Aeriell of Oklahoma City; Jocelyn Puckett of Edmond; Macey Hatfield and Mitchell Hatfield both of Maysville; Halston Heck and wife, Adrianna of Rolla, Missouri, and Trent Hatfield of Maysville; Dak Hatfield and wife, Robyn of Ft. Worth, Texas; Dray Hatfield of Norman; Rendi Kelly and husband, Mickie of Jerome, Idaho; and Cody Forkner of Guthrie. Great grandchildren: Hannah, Levi, Josiah, Ezra, Isiah, Samuel, David, Luke, Aaren, Wesley, Hudson, Chase, Whitten, Weston, and Jessi. And nieces, nephews, and a host of church family and friends. O. B. was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gertrude Puckett; wives, Willie Jo Puckett and Ruth Hatfield Puckett; a granddaughter, Claire Port, brothers, Sherman Puckett and Steve Puckett; and sisters, Bonnie Surratt, Bobby Jean Waller, Frankie Waller. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, Maysville with Rev. Chuck Shilling, Rev. Steve Spangler, and Rev. Chris Thorman officiating.
