Max Warden

Max Warden of Norman was born on October 12, 1931 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma to John Franklin Warden and Bonnie Bea (Long) Warden. He passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016 in Oklahoma City at the age of 84 years. Max was a 1951 graduate of Wynnewood High School, where he was a member of the 1949 State Championship Football Team. He married Twila Beth Cannon on March 1, 1952 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. He worked at the Kerr McGee Refinery for 34 years and was a shift supervisor before retiring in 1988. In 1996, they moved to Norman to live closer to their children. Max’s family was extremely important to him. He was kind, loyal, gentle, and warmhearted; a loving husband to his wife and devoted companion in their 64 years of marriage. He was also a very caring and supportive father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He would attend all of his sons’ and grandchildren’s activities. Max was a gameshow enthusiast; his favorites were “The Price Is Right” and “Wheel of Fortune”. He enjoyed going to the horse races and watching football. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. His survivors include his wife, Beth Warden. Sons: Richard Warden and wife Nancy of Chickasha; Max Warden, Jr. of Norman; David Warden and wife Debbie of Norman. Brother, Bill Warden of Mill Creek. Sister, Jo McIntyre and husband Bill of Oklahoma City. Grandchildren: Jeanna Beth Smith, David Lee Warden, Jr., Lindsey Pearson, Christine Warden, and Katherine Warden. Great grandchildren: Cade Smith, Caroline Warden, Colt Warden, and Cohen Warden. And many other relatives and friends. Max was preceded in death by his parents, John Franklin and Bonnie Bea Warden, and a son, John Mark Warden in 2011. A private family memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of Max Warden.
