Lezlie Brown

March 25, 1955 — September 27, 2016

Lezlie Brown passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was born in Oklahoma City, March 25, 1955. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. C. Alton Brown, Elizabeth Anne Lowry Brown, brother Tom Brown and brother-in-law, Jay Jones. She is survived by her sister Amy Williams, husband Dr. Ron Williams, nephew Brady Williams all of Norman, as well as nephew Kyle Jones, wife Amanda, great niece Annamarie Elizabeth, and great nephew Christopher Jay all of The Woodlands, Texas and her beloved dachshund, Millie. She was the big sister who set the rules and felt life was too short to worry about the details of organization. She would drop all responsibility if there was fun to be had or mischief to be made. Lezlie grew up in a creative home which was the hub of activity. On any given night kids could be found playing cards or singing around the player piano. She inherited the love of practical jokes as well as a passion for helping others from both her parents. Not only was she a caregiver professionally, she was a foster mom to many dachshunds and boxers dogs. From the beginning to the end there was always a dog by her side. She treasured family time and accompanied Amy’s family on many trips and cruises. We’re not sure how this happened but her family fondly knew her as “Uncle Lezlie”. She was a Co-Director, Women’s Counselor, and Administrator at First Stone Ministry in Oklahoma City. Her career in Social Work and as a Registered Nurse was concentrated in Hospice care spanning a 30 year period. At the time when the health care industry was changing, Lezlie was a strong patient advocate. She devoted her career to making sure the needs of the terminally ill were met. She attended First Methodist Church, OKC where a memorial service will be held on December 26, 2016. Memorials may be made to the Red Dirt Boxer Rescue, PO Box 452, Harrah, Ok. 73045 Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, Oklahoma under the direction of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
