Almeda Dobson

June 14, 1935 — September 25, 2016

Almeda Dobson joined our Savior in heaven on September 25, 2016. She passed from this life at home surrounded by family at the age of 81 in Pauls Valley, Ok. Almeda Timmons Dobson was born to H. P. “Jack” Timmons and Melzine Childress Timmons Darby on June 14, 1935 in Ada, Ok. Almeda started school in Stratford then she went to Little Egypt and Francis small country schools around Ada, Ok. She moved to Maysville in her early teens and lived in this area the rest of her life. When older she completed her GED in Wynnewood, Ok. Almeda was a member of the Assembly of God Church for many years. She served in various ministries in the church including Church Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Volunteer, sponsored at Church Camp, Lead the Music, helped cook, and visited and sang at the Nursing Home. She enjoyed making quilts for her grandchildren. She loved traveling on vacations and sewing and cooking for the family. When she got older she loved riding the Delta bus to Senior Citizens five days a week and listening to the band on Friday’s. Almeda had been going to the Abundant Love in Maysville for the past seven or eight years. She married her childhood sweetheart Curt Dobson Oct. 27, 1949 in Purcell, Ok. They were married almost 58 years. Curt and Almeda had five children together. Their family include: son Jesse James Dobson and his wife Rita of Rush Springs, Ok, Gwendolyn and her husband Jim Zachary of Edmond, Ok, Curtis Dobson of Maysville, Ok and Sharon and her husband Kelly Beck of Pauls Valley, Ok. She had 10 grandchildren Shannon Goodwin, Rachael Mathis, Stacy Haigood and Jalisa Love. Jesse, Joe, Steven and Clint Dobson, Johnny Zachary and Michael Haigood, 27 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She leaves two brothers, Stanley Timmons and his wife Oralia of Bennington, Ok and Vincent Darby of Muskogee, Ok. Those preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Curt Dobson, a son, Phillip Dobson, a sister Dorothy Jean Spencer, a brother Odis Timmons and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Abundant Love Church with Bro. Danny Gamble officiating. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, Ok. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
