Dorothy Muriel Brown

Dorothy Muriel Brown was born on February 24, 1926 in Maysville, Oklahoma to Charlie and Minnie (White) Orr. She passed from this life on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 in Port St. Lucie, Florida at the age of 89 years. Dorothy graduated from Maysville High School, where she was an outstanding basketball player who loved the sport and went on to play for the All American Red Heads. She served as a council person for the Town of Maysville for several years and had lived in Maysville for many years before moving to Florida in 2012. She worked as a lab technician for the Lindsay Water Authority. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, fishing, and bowling and she was a member of the Church of Christ. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her survivors include her sons: James Brown and wife Pat of Lincoln, Nebraska and Roddy Brown and wife Nickie of Port St. Lucie, Florida. A brother, Paul Ray Orr of Graceville, Florida. Sister, Carolyn Sue Ramsey of Maysville. 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Minnie Orr; husband, Barney Brown; a great grandson, Jacob Goeden; brothers , Roy Elden Orr, S. J. Orr, and Orlis Charles Orr; sisters, Georgia Brown and Jo Orr. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Church of Christ, PO Box 562, Maysville, OK 73057. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, Friday, January 8, 2016 at Winans Funeral Home, 405 Sixth Street, Maysville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Church of Christ, Maysville with Minister Roy Young and Minister Dwight Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
