Neoma VanSchuyver Wilmot of Maysville was born on June 5, 1926 in Chism, Oklahoma to Alvin and Eva (Rycroft) VanSchuyver. She passed from her earthly home and entered into Glory on Sunday, July 26, 2015 in her home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 89 years. Neoma was the youngest in a family of 11 children. While growing up, she attended Byars School where she was an outstanding basketball player. During World War II she moved to California and worked in the shipyards as a welder and later as a riveter at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City. She married Robert E. Wilmot on September 17, 1945 in Pauls Valley. Neoma was a homemaker who raised her own vegetables and was a hard working farmer’s wife who worked beside her husband in the cotton, hay, and broomcorn fields and was still raking and baling hay until 1980. She was a great cook who would cook up meals for the whole crew of “Broomcorn Johnnys”. She enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, playing dominos, and cards. Neoma was an excellent seamstress who could sew anything from Jams for her grandchildren to western shirts and wedding dresses. Granny Noma enjoyed watching her grandsons and great grandchildren playing all sports. She liked to travel with her daughters. She was an avid Thunder basketball fan and loved all OU sports. She attended the First Baptist Church for many years and later the Abundant Love Fellowship where she enjoyed the Sunday Night Singing and Fellowship. Neoma will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her children: Patricia Clure and husband Landes of Maysville, Jesse Wilmot and wife Cindy of Maysville, and Reba Baker of Dallas, Texas.
