Donna Sue Hobbs of Purcell was born on November 9, 1956 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to William N. Hobbs, Jr. and Lefredia Irene (Brown) Hobbs. She passed from this life on Monday, January 5, 2015 at her home in Purcell at the age of 58 years. Donna grew up all over the state of Oklahoma since she was the daughter of a minister. She graduated from Oilton High School in 1975, then obtained an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from South Oklahoma City Junior College and became a Registered Nurse in 1983, then she returned to college at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond where she earned a degree as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in 1993. She worked at ELT Glowlite in Pauls Valley as a floor manager for three years. Then she worked for Wadley’s Ambulance Service as an EMT and a CPR Instructor, and Instructor Trainer from 1980 to 2004. Donna worked for 27 years at Purcell Municipal Hospital as a nurse’s aide, a Emergency Room Unit Clerk, and a Registered Nurse before going to work at Norman Regional Hospital as a Med-Surg Charge Nurse. After receiving her funeral director and embalmer’s license, she worked for Wadley’s Funeral Service until 2011. Donna enjoyed reading, listening to Indian wooden flute music, doing continuing education and keeping up with changes in nursing and funeral service, and tending to others needs whether it be in the medical field or through the funeral business. Her survivors include her mother, Lefredia Irene Hobbs of Purcell. Brothers: Tony Hobbs of Lynnwood, Washington; John Hobbs and wife Karen of Purcell, Oklahoma. Sisters: Helen LeSuer and husband Bennett of Linton, Indiana; and Darlene Hobbs of Purcell. Many nieces and nephews. Sister and nephew by heart, Kerri and Blake Riley. And many friends who she met throughout the years of working in the medical profession and funeral service. Donna was preceded in death by her father, William N. Hobbs, Jr.; 2 brothers, Rickey Gene Hobbs and Ronnie Lee Hobbs; a niece, Deborah Correll; and grandparents: Williams Hobbs, Sr. and Pearl Hobbs, Rufus Oscar Brown and Callie Brown. Visitation will be held at Johnson Road Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from noon to 5:00 pm, and on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from noon to 5 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Johnson Road Baptist Church, Purcell, OK with Rev. Wayne Brown, Rev. Dennis Clark, and Honorary minister, L.C. Bingham officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Purcell, OK under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
