Wilma Lee Foster

Wilma Lee Foster, formerly of Maysville, passed from this life at the age of 79 years on Sunday, October 19, 2014 in Ponca City where she was currently residing. She was born on January 25, 1935 in Grant, Oklahoma to William and Daisy (Lick) Swink. Wilma grew up in Hugo, Oklahoma, graduating from high school there. She went on to attend the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha for one year before meeting the love of her life, Frank Foster. They were married on July 4, 1954 in Hugo. Frank worked for Phillips and Sunoco, so they lived in Texas, Colorado, and several places in Oklahoma. After retirement, they moved back to Maysville for several years before moving to Ponca City to be near their daughter and her family. Wilma was a homemaker, but had also worked at Anthony’s Department Store and as a meat wrapper for Williamson’s Grocery Store. She liked to read the daily newspaper and books, do oil painting, and watch “As the World Turns” soap opera. Wilma loved Barry Switzer, watching OU, Denver Broncos, and the Dallas Cowboys football games. While her nephews were growing up, she enjoyed watching them play football. She always enjoyed spending time with her family, she would take her granddaughters shopping and for a hamburger and like to love on her great grandchildren. Wilma liked to go fishing and deer hunting and she could cook the best deer meat and red beans for everyone to eat. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her survivors include her husband, Frank of the home in Ponca City. A daughter, Linda Cain and husband Terry of Tonkawa. Granddaughters: Lori Brown and husband Michael of Ponca City; and Tera Goddard of Ponca City. Great grandchildren: Gunnar Brown and Terryn Goddard. Sisters-in-law: Wanda Odom of Maysville and Betty Foster of Lindsay. Longtime friends, C. D. Payne and Vanice Burditt. And numerous other relatives. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Ricky Foster; and sisters, Billie Garrett, Lena Mayes, Nancy Payne, and June Mallison. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Maysville Cemetery with Rev. Allen Carroll officiating. Burial will be under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
