Dwight Douglas Ward was born on March 26, 1956 at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Melvin and Gertrude Jo Henderson Ward. He passed from this life on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at his home south of Maysville at the age of 57 years. Dwight has lived in this area all of his life. He attended Story and Maysville Schools. He was a field Specialist for Texaco for 27 years and was a Garvin County District 1 Shop Boss. His dream was to own and operate his own Fish and Tackle Shop and was named D&L Tackle, south of Maysville and also WW Tire Service. He earned certificates at Vo-Tech in courses of computer, photography, small engine maintenance and repair and business management. He donated his time to the building of the Pauls Valley rodeo arena and built the bleachers there. He enjoyed spending time with his family under the shade tree, fishing and making things out of leather. He was a member of the Love Baptist Church. His survivors include his partner and longtime companion, LaDonna Gill Ward of the home. Sons: Daniel “Danny” Ward of Maysville, James and Amber Gill of Pauls Valley and David and Beverly Davis of Antioch. Daughters: Christy Carruth of Wanette, Oklahoma, Paula and Mike Haldebel of Arkansas and Jerrina and Chuck Brand of Maysville. A brother Ricky Allen Ward of Maysville. Sisters: Janette and Harvey Henderson of Edmond; Margaret and Larry Bowman of Elmore City; and Sandra Kay and Frank Percell of Tishomingo, Ok. 17 Grandchildren: Taylor, Marshall, Caroline, Brittany, Nathan, Xzavier, Hannah, Dalton, Logan, Bodie, Hailey, Luke, Trey, Isiah, Karenle, Ryan, and Lacy, and many other members of the family and his dog Bud. Dwight is preceded in death by his parents and grandchild, Jesse Gill. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 24, at 11:00am at the Antioch Cemetery with Rev. Mark Frost officiating. Burial will be under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
